DIAMOND TURNING OPERATIONS
Overview
Our brand new temperature controlled facility is equipped
with ultra precision state-of-the-art 350UPL and two 250UPL single
point diamond turning lathes made by Nanotechnology System of
Keene, NH. We are able to manufacture spherical and aspherical
surfaces of most infrared optics up to 350 mm, in diameter including
Ge and ZnSe, Cleartran and CaF2 lenses. Aluminum, Copper, Nikel
plated mirrors are available. We can achieve the surface roughness
of 2.5 nm Ra on Ge, 1.1 nm Ra on CaF2 and 2.0 nm Ra on Aluminum.
Our measurement and testing capabilities include new ZYGO GPI
High Resolution interferometer, surface roughness, ZYGO New View
5000 microscope and Taylor-Hobson proliferometer.
Materials
We have recently made aspheric and spherical lenses by
diamond turning from CaF2, BaF2, GaAs, CdTe, Silicon, Ge, ZnSe
and ZnS.
Surface Profile
We can make any spherical or aspheric surface with rotational
symmetry, on-axis or off-axis. The aspheric surface described
as higher order polynomials up to 20th order and includes conical,
elliptical, parabolic and other profiles.
Test and Measurement Capability
- Contact Profilometer:
The Moore Nanotechnology Work-piece Error Compensation
system (WEC) version 2.2.7 provides high-accuracy part geometry
measurements for spherical and aspheric surfaces. Consists
of the Moore NTS ultra precision motion system and controller,
LVDT probe with A/D card and WEC software.
- Electronic Microscope:
The New View 5000 System, model# 5010 is an electronic
microscope with a high-resolution camera, with selectable
resolution up to 640 x 480 pixels, with 10x Mirau objective.
Provides images and measures the microstructure and topography
of surfaces in three dimensions. Has vertical resolution 0.1
nm, lateral resolution 1.18 um, 200x system magnification.
- Interferometer:
Zygo GPI XPHR interferometer has high-resolution high
speed camera. Provides non-contact measurement of flat and
spherical surfaces, and transmitted wavefront measurements.
Fringe resolution up to 180 fringes.
